My child played around in a playpen while I sat for 12 hours in sanding floors and taking down the wallpaper. Ha! The home was starting to look nice, but there was a lot to be done. The home would require a great deal of effort and an enthusiasm of shopping. For my budget to remain intact, I went with my three boys in search for bargains in estate sales. We had a weekly schedule which consisted of spending the week from Friday through Saturday at estate and garage sales, purchasing new and old items. The rest of the week sanding and painting the driveway. The look was similar to it... This was when my interest in restoration of furniture started. It didn't matter if the home was equipped. There was a spot on the market in town that I could sell my pieces. I was able to outgrow the market because I had many more pieces than I could use. At home, I started hosting open houses, where over 1,000 people were able to come in and buy any item they wanted on the first floor in just one weekend. Growing Days was created in this home. The business I was running was growing however my family was growing too. Finding the balance was important for me. I wanted to balance being a mother and a successful business owner. Growing Days just seemed to work. Nora was born in 2013 and became our fourth baby. The direction of my business was excellent, however I was forced to get some down time. I made the decision to take some break from my antique furniture and slow down to stay at home with the kids. It was exactly what I was looking for at the time. But after a short time, my phone began ringing. I began receiving messages from individuals asking to help with their home improvement as well as interior design. The majority of them had visited my house at the open houses to purchase furniture. In the following months, I began to take on more clients, at my own speed. Then I was able to have many customers and was operating as a home improvement business. When you first spoke to me about my home renovation business I laughed. In fact, I laugh at times when I think of it.
